Richard Glenn Verran
I, Marian am writing this in memory of my brother, Richie ~ 1949-2009
After Graduation, Richie worked for the Copper Range Railroad, Philipp's BB Station in South Range for Edsel and Bob Petrelius. Following that, he worked as a welder for Hocking Construction and later for Ed's Iron Salvage in Houghton, also as a welder.
He enjoyed playing softball, 4 wheeling and camping. Richie was married and divorced and is survived by a son, Rick, and daughter Julie and three grandchildren, Chloe, Logan and Landon.
He passed away on March 1, 2009; two weeks after his 60th birthday.
He is missed by family and a host of friends.

I began nursing school after graduation but decided after a year and one-half that was not my calling. Worked for a few years then married in 1970....had 2 wonderful children both successful today. Graduated from college in 1983 from Oakland University and worked for corporate America for 30 years...beginning as a financial analyst and ending my career as a business consultant. I am happily retired now and enjoying what life has to offer.

Christine (Shiroda) Downey
After graduation I went to work for the Herman Gundlach Construcion Co. for 8 years. Married Bill Downey of Hancock in June of 1970 and will have in 47 years this June. We raised two sons, Bill (91) JHS grad. and Bob (93) JHS grad. and also both MTU graduates. They are both currently living in St. Augustine, Fl. with their families and are working for the same company. I have had a few different jobs, but my longest and my current one is with Jeffers High School starting in 1980 and currently still here. Love It. We enjoy going to see the family whenever possible, mostly during the snow covered holidays.

After graduation, I attended Michigan State for two years, then transferred to NMU where I graduated with a degree in English and history, secondary education. That same year, Jim and I got married in Florida.
I had the pleasure and privilege of working at Jeffers for 31 years, as an English teacher and later as principal.
Our kids have graduated from college and are on their own. We're both retired and still enjoy camping, boating, traveling and spending time at the family cottage at Twin Lakes.
On graduation day, I never imagined I would return and grow in this garden, but I have to say, I've had a good life and feel very, very blessed.
